On 12 July 2025, I was deeply honoured to be recognised at the inaugural African Business Chamber (AfBC) Annual African Business Awards with the African Women in Business Excellence Award.
This award is more than a personal milestone—it represents the resilience, creativity, and fearless leadership of women of African heritage who continue to shape the future of business, innovation, and community impact across the UK.
A Celebration of African Brilliance
The awards ceremony, attended by over 250 distinguished guests, was graced by His Excellency Johnston Busingye, the High Commissioner of Rwanda to the UK, who delivered an inspiring keynote. It was a moving evening that brought together business leaders, innovators, and community changemakers from across the African diaspora.
To be recognised on this national stage, representing Wolverhampton, filled me with both pride and gratitude.
The Journey with CheckUp Health
My entrepreneurial journey has been defined by a desire to address health inequalities and create solutions for underserved communities. Through CheckUp Health, our Wolverhampton-based healthtech company, we have developed an AI-powered GP platform that is co-designed with the NHS and aligns with the NHS’s 10-Year Plan for Digital Transformation.
This recognition is not only for me but for the incredible team behind CheckUp Health, whose dedication and expertise have made this vision possible. Together, we are proving that innovation born locally can influence national—and even global—healthcare.
Representation and Legacy
Although I could not be there in person, my family proudly accepted the award on my behalf. Watching them celebrate this moment reminded me that representation matters deeply.
As a mother, I am proud that my children can see what it means to dream boldly, persevere, and walk a path of purpose. This award symbolises not just success, but a legacy of possibility—for them and for generations of African women in business who will come after us.
Why This Moment Matters
For Wolverhampton – It shows the city is home to pioneering ideas and talent that can thrive nationally.
For African women in business, it reinforces that our contributions are vital, visible, and celebrated.
For the next generation, it proves that with resilience and vision, anything is possible.
Looking Ahead
This recognition fuels my determination to continue scaling CheckUp Health, championing digital innovation, and supporting African women in business to thrive and lead.

It is my hope that this award inspires others to step forward with their ideas, take bold risks, and know that their journey—no matter how challenging—can lead somewhere meaningful.
I remain grateful to the African Business Chamber for this honour, to my team at CheckUp Health, to my family, and to the Wolverhampton community that continues to be the foundation of my journey.
